As the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) approaches its centenary celebrations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Nagpur on Sunday to pay homage at the Smruti Mandir in Reshimbagh, the memorial of RSS founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar.

In addition, PM Modi will visit Deekshabhoomi, a significant Buddhist pilgrimage site where Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar embraced Buddhism with thousands of followers in 1956.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), his visit will begin at 9 AM with prayers at Smruti Mandir, followed by a visit to Deekshabhoomi. At around 10 AM, he will lay the foundation stone of the Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre, an advanced eye care facility in Nagpur, and address a public gathering.

At approximately 12:30 PM, PM Modi will inaugurate the Loitering Munition Testing Range and an airstrip for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) at Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited in Nagpur. This state-of-the-art facility will enhance India’s defence capabilities by enabling live testing of guided munitions.

The PMO noted that Madhav Netralaya, established in 2014, is a premier super-specialty ophthalmic institute, and its new extension aims to further advance eye care research and treatment.

Following his engagements in Nagpur, PM Modi will travel to Chhattisgarh to launch multiple development projects worth over ₹33,700 crore. In Bilaspur, he will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for key initiatives in the power, oil and gas, rail, road, education, and housing sectors.

RSS ideologue Ashutosh Adoni hailed the visit as a “historic moment,” emphasizing its significance in the Sangh’s journey. “A dedicated volunteer who now serves as India’s Prime Minister visiting Smruti Mandir makes this visit extraordinary,” Adoni told ANI.

RSS leader Seshadri Chari pointed out that this marks PM Modi’s first visit to Smruti Mandir since assuming office. “This is a milestone as RSS completes 100 years. The Prime Minister’s commitment to the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ aligns with the Sangh’s ideals,” he said.

With this visit, PM Modi reaffirms his association with the RSS while also spearheading key development projects aimed at strengthening India’s infrastructure and defence.
